Olivia and Erik are a special couple – it was our first backyard wedding and boy, was it a beauty!
Olivia is from New York and Erik is from Columbia. Olivia and Erik got engaged in Hawaii (dream location am I right?!) and started planning the wedding of their dreams. Olivia’s older brother had gotten married at their childhood home a few years prior, and she wanted a backyard garden party themed wedding ever since.
To say she nailed the details perfectly would be an understatement. Olivia’s parents home was the perfect setting for a backyard wedding. The lawn was perfectly manicured and the flower beds had just bloomed. Guests arrived to her parents home by bus just before the ceremony began. The ceremony was set off to the side of her parents home, with a beautiful floral arch as the focal point. The bridesmaids and groomsmen flanked the bride and groom, while her oldest brother married the couple. They did a ring warming ceremony, where each guest got to hold and touch the couples wedding bands to wish them well on their journey of marriage.
Stamford tents did a beautiful installation, with a raised dance floor. (Our biggest tips for a backyard wedding – install a dance floor! You don’t want guests tripping on uneven ground, sinking into the grass, or stepping on rocks.) Guest place cards were the sweetest bud vases with a pale pink rosebud. Tables featured low centerpieces with greenery and white floral, which were accented by greenery chandeliers and a greenery piece that was hung over the dance floor. Fun fact: all of the floral was done by the Mother of the Bride and her friends from their garden club!
This couple mixed their cultures together perfectly – from the bilingual ceremony, to doing half their first dance in English before switching to Spanish, and their bilingual toasts. You could tell the couple had thought through every last detail. Their friends and family were so thrilled to be a part of their big day, and celebrated to the wee hours of the morning with the help of their talented DJ!
This backyard wedding was one for the books, and we were so thankful to have had a part in their wedding day!
